How do Injectable Neurotoxins work?
Neurotoxins target one of the underlying causes of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines- the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, smiling, and raising the eyebrows over the years. Your injector will inject these muscles with neurotoxins to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will notice these lines will start to smooth out and temporarily look better.
What do Injectable Neurotoxins target?
Neurotoxins target moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet lines, and forehead lines. It can also be used to treat Comment end lip lines, gummy smiles droopy smiles, chin dimpling, and temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ).
How many treatments will I need?
It’s important to space out your treatments at least 90 days apart. Since neurotoxins are temporarily treating the muscles, you’ll need to be consistent with scheduling your next appointment. You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours. Full results in 2 weeks- which may last up to 4 months.
How should I prepare for the treatment?
Prior to your appointment, avoid taking certain medications and drinking alcohol. Blood thinners, NSAIDs, and muscle relaxants can cause bleeding or bruising when used with neurotoxins, try to avoid these one week before treatment. Alcohol can increase your risk of bleeding and bruising as well, try to avoid these beverages 48 hours prior to treatment.
What should I expect the day of treatment?
Treatment is usually quick and easy. Some people say it feels like a pinch. The number of units injected will vary from person to person. It is an estimate of the amount of neuromodulator required to paralyze the muscles, depending on a number of factors that vary from person to person.
What should I expect post treatment?
Do not lay flat or work out for four hours following treatment. Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications for 5-7 days after injection appointment. Bleeding and bruising at the injection site is possible. Most people have slightly swollen pinkish bumps at the injection site or a couple of hours after treatment. A small percentage of patients can develop headaches following treatments.
