  • It is imperative to protect the treated skin from the sun for a full 2-4 weeks prior to laser skin treatments as well as 4 weeks after. We recommend the use of a physical sunscreen of at least 30 SPF (preferably containing titanium dioxide or zinc oxide).   Any tan or “color” from the sun can cause adverse side effects like burns which could lead to undesirable and potentially permanent outcomes.

  • Discontinue aspirin for 10 days prior to an BBL treatment. Discontinue ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and Vitamin E capsules 5 days prior to the procedure. Using aspirin or ibuprofen during the week before treatment may lead to increased redness or bruising and failure for redness and capillaries to resolve with treatment. If you are using aspirin under the direction of another medical provider, please discuss with him/her prior to stopping medication.
  • Do not use retinol, Retin A (tretinoin), adapalene, retinoic acid, or glycolic acid products 5 days before treatment.

  • For 2–48 hours before your treatment, stop using products like retinoids, exfoliants, waxing products, depilatories, and over-the-counter acne medications. These products can be harsh and irritating, and make your skin more sensitive.

This allows the esthetician to better assess your skin and tailor the treatment to your needs. Makeup can also interfere with the cleansing process.

  • Clean lashes: Remove all makeup and oils from your lashes and around your eyes with a cleaning pad that doesn't leave an oily residue. This helps the lift cream and rods adhere to your lashes and skin, resulting in a better lift.
  • Avoid waterproof mascara: Removing waterproof mascara often requires rubbing, which can cause the lift to fall. Instead, you can use black mascara that contains biotin, castor oil, arginine, and keratin.
  • Condition lashes: Condition your lashes daily, either in the morning or at night.
  • Remove contact lenses: The fumes from the lash glue can distort and shrivel contact lenses, which can be painful and harmful to your eyes.
  • Avoid caffeine: Avoid energy drinks and caffeine before your appointment so your eyes can remain calm during the procedure.
  • Don't wear makeup: Eye makeup can affect the results of the lift and tint, so you should avoid wearing it to your appointment. If you do wear eye makeup, your esthetician will remove it.
  • Bring glasses: You should bring glasses with you to your appointment.
